Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset. Additional certifications in project management or climate adaptation strategies will be beneficial.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in climate change adaptation, environmental policy, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing climate adaptation projects or initiatives is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as the position is based in Brazil. Proficiency in English is also required, and knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset, given the regional context and potential collaboration with Spanish-speaking countries.
Additional Notes:
The consultancy is expected to last for a duration of 120 days. This is a full-time position, and the consultant will be required to submit proposals through the UNDP Supplier Portal. The deadline for proposal submission is strictly set for August 13, 2026, at 04:00 PM New York time. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- The consultant will support the strategic agenda of climate adaptation prioritized by the Presidency of COP 3
- This includes the structuring and operationalization of the Alliance for the Implementation of NAPs. The consultant is expected to deliver high-quality technical support and strategic guidance to ensure effective implementation of climate adaptation initiatives. The role requires a deep understanding of climate change adaptation strategies and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and international organizations. The consultant will be responsible for developing actionable plans, facilitating workshops, and providing expert advice on best practices in climate adaptation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in the development and implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) in alignment with COP 30 objectives.
- Collaborate with the Presidency of COP 30 to identify priority areas for climate adaptation.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and workshops to promote the Alliance for the Implementation of NAPs.
- Develop strategic documents and reports that outline the progress and challenges of NAP implementation.
- Conduct research and analysis on climate adaptation best practices and policies.
- Provide recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of climate adaptation strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with UNDP procurement processes and guidelines throughout the consultancy period.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in climate change adaptation and sustainable development.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
