Job Overview: The Fund Coordination Specialist plays a crucial role within the GFCR Secretariat, providing essential coordination, operational, governance, and communications support to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director and the wider GFCR team. This position is responsible for ensuring effective planning and delivery of governing body processes, strategic engagement activities, and program operations. The specialist will manage documentation, stakeholder follow-up, and operational support, ensuring clear communication flows among GFCR teams, governing bodies, program partners, and donors. The role is pivotal in maintaining institutional records, tracking priority actions, and contributing to strategic engagement and communications outputs that align with GFCR priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Fund Coordination Specialist will manage and coordinate the planning of Executive Board and Steering Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, sending invitations, archiving decisions, and monitoring action points. They will support the Deputy Director in planning governance meetings and develop tools to track the implementation of decisions. The specialist will lead the development and updates of the GFCR Operations Manual, coordinate UN Global Team meetings, and maintain the GFCR mission calendar. Additionally, they will contribute to the assessment of program/project budgets, guide organizations on operational processes, and support the development of annual work plans and reports. The role also involves managing a contacts database and contributing to the drafting of documentation and operational notes as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in management, economics, international relations, or related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience will be considered. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in governance management, preferably in the environment or climate change sectors, is required. Proven experience in managing relationships with donors, boards, and grant recipients is essential, along with strong IT skills, particularly with MS Office Suite.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in management, economy, international relations, or related areas is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the mentioned areas, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of experience in progressively responsible positions related to governance management, ideally within the environment or climate change sectors. Experience in performance-based grants and managing donor relations is highly desirable. Familiarity with report writing and research, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as mid-level (ICS 10) and is offered on an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) basis, specifically as an IICA - Regular contract. The initial contract duration is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
