Job Overview: The Digital MediaInternship at WRI Europe is designed to provide a unique opportunity for an intern to become an integral part of a dynamic communications team based in The Hague. The intern will focus on digital content creation, which is essential for elevating WRI Europe’s message through engaging and strategic social media campaigns. The role involves editing and producing short-form video content, managing digital assets, and amplifying WRI's presence across various social platforms. Additionally, the intern will assist in producing and scheduling social media posts related to flagship events, publications, and news events, while also conducting regular performance analysis of these posts. A significant aspect of this internship includes supporting communications for the 10th anniversary of WRI Europe, providing an excellent opportunity to develop key digital communication skills and overall communications expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Communications Intern will engage in both ongoing digital communications tasks and a defined special project. The core components of the internship include:
Content Creation (35%): The intern will produce and edit short-form video content and other social media materials for WRI Europe’s channels, including Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. This involves filming at events, post-production editing, designing visual assets such as thumbnails and data visuals, and exploring new content formats that align with WRI Europe’s tone and messaging.
Social Media Support (40%): The intern will assist in maintaining the editorial calendar, preparing and scheduling posts around key campaigns, events, and publications, analyzing performance metrics such as engagement and reach, and engaging with the community.
Special Project (25%): The intern will provide support for a special project, which includes creating an inventory of Europe articles, online announcements, and graphs, as well as selecting photos for the development of a new, semi-separate WRI Europe website. The internship aims to produce a portfolio of completed multimedia assets, analytics insights, and contributions to the new website.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in a study program at a Dutch university or hogeschool for the entire duration of the internship. A background in communications, design, media, or journalism is essential. Additionally, candidates should have ample experience with video editing tools, graphic design, and social media production and analytics. A solid understanding of social media language, behavior, and practices is also required. Proficiency in English is mandatory, including strong writing skills, while knowledge of additional European languages is considered a plus.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a relevant study program at a Dutch university or hogeschool. Candidates should ideally have a focus on communications, design, media, or journalism, which will provide the necessary foundation for the tasks and responsibilities associated with the internship.
