Job Overview: The PPH Associate position is integral to the Private Partnerships & Philanthropy (PPH) team in the Netherlands, which focuses on raising funds from foundations, major donors, and corporations to support UNHCR's humanitarian efforts. The role requires a dynamic and proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively within the team. The PPH Associate will assist in developing strategic partnerships, managing communications, and supporting fundraising initiatives aimed at broadening the donor base, particularly in light of increasing humanitarian needs and competition for resources. This position is crucial for ensuring a sustainable income stream for UNHCR's programs, and the successful candidate will be expected to engage actively with various stakeholders to secure funding and support for the organization's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The PPH Associate will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Internal Reporting: Coordinating all reporting and administrative activities, managing databases, preparing quarterly reports, organizing monthly meetings, and supporting offline finance and procurement processes.
Proposals & External Reporting: Assisting in the development of compelling proposals and reports for both existing donors and new prospects.
Campaigns & Events: Supporting the creation and execution of PPH campaigns, such as the End of Year Campaign and World Refugee Day Campaign, and organizing related events.
Communication: Aiding in the development of communication strategies for PPH, managing supplier contacts, and ensuring timely dissemination of communication materials to target audiences.
Due Diligence: Adhering to UNHCR’s due diligence screening policies for PPH collaborations.
General Support: Preparing briefings, talking points, and presentations for meetings with donors and prospects, and providing ad hoc support as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma (secondary education) and preferably hold a UNESCO accredited HBO+/University degree in Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required, or two years if the candidate holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in a relevant field. Proven experience in cultivating and managing relationships with private sector donors in the Netherlands is essential, along with familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce. Experience in an international humanitarian NGO or UN organization is advantageous, as is a solid understanding of the Dutch fundraising landscape, particularly in Private Sector Partnerships and Philanthropy.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include the completion of secondary education, with a preference for candidates holding a degree from a recognized institution in fields such as Marketing, International Relations, Management, Business Administration, or Communications. A higher education qualification is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in fundraising or related fields. If the candidate holds a higher degree, a minimum of two years of experience is acceptable. Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies, particularly with private sector donors, is crucial. Familiarity with CRM systems and previous work in an international context, especially within humanitarian organizations, will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in both Dutch and English is mandatory, encompassing oral, written, and comprehension skills. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a plus but is not required for this position.
Additional Notes: This position is based in UNHCR’s office in The Hague, Netherlands, and is associated with a yearly contract that may be renewed annually. It is a full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours of work per week, from Monday to Friday. There is flexibility for part-time arrangements (minimum 80%) upon agreement with the selected candidate. The salary range for this position is between €4,747 and €5,670 gross, aligned with the local General Service salary scale of the United Nations.
