Job Overview:
The Business Support Assistant (Risk & Compliance) position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support and analyses to country office risk management activities. The role is crucial in ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, contributing to the overall effectiveness of operations, and optimizing WFP resources. The assistant will be involved in various activities, including field monitoring, risk assessment, compliance checks, and stakeholder engagement. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential risks and irregularities, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The assistant will also support training and awareness initiatives related to risk management and compliance, ensuring that all staff are informed and equipped to uphold WFP's standards. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of WFP's operations and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those in need efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular field visits to various operational locations to gather information, verify activities, and identify potential risks or compliance concerns.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze information from field offices and partners to support risk monitoring and reporting.
  • Participate in monitoring missions and compliance reviews to assess adherence to WFP policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and operational assessments in country and field offices.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with field office staff, local authorities, and community representatives.
  • Organize workshops and training sessions related to risk management and compliance.
  • Support the implementation of WFP’s Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of monitoring visits and prepare reports for management.
  • Undertake any other monitoring, compliance, risk, or field-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, or Criminology. A strong understanding of risk management, compliance, and monitoring processes is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in challenging environments. Familiarity with humanitarian operations and experience in audit or investigations are highly desirable. Candidates should also exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required for this position. Education in areas such as Accounting, Finance, or Criminology is preferred, as it provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of risk management and compliance within humanitarian operations.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of overall experience in relevant fields such as investigations, monitoring, risk management, or audit. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of compliance frameworks and the ability to conduct thorough assessments and evaluations. Experience in humanitarian settings or with organizations similar to WFP is an advantage, as it provides context for the challenges faced in the field.

Languages:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and beneficiaries.

This position is a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is specifically open to Bangladeshi Nationals.
