Job Overview:

The role involves reviewing security threats and risks, compiling reports, and providing recommendations to senior security staff to facilitate informed decision-making. The Security Associate will coordinate with local authorities and security personnel to ensure safe program delivery and mitigate risks. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, including conducting security assessments, analyzing reports, and advising on risk management strategies. The Security Associate will also be responsible for maintaining security equipment, monitoring access control procedures, and delivering security training to staff, ensuring a comprehensive approach to safety and security within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Security Associate include:
  • Reviewing security threats and risks in detail and compiling accurate reports on trends and situations that could adversely impact WFP operations.
  • Analyzing security-related information and producing a range of analyses and in-depth reports for relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaising and coordinating with local administration, security, and law enforcement authorities to facilitate access for safe program delivery.
  • Planning and coordinating staff activities during field missions and performing security assessments.
  • Analyzing security assessment reports and presenting recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Advising the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director on security risk management matters.
  • Supporting the implementation of risk management measures, including Minimum Operational Security Standards (MOSS).
  • Maintaining and managing security equipment and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitoring access control procedures to maintain a safe environment. 1
  • Developing recommendations for improving emergency and contingency planning documentation. 1
  • Delivering security training to staff and assessing training needs. 1
  • Supervising and providing on-the-job training to other staff. 1
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the activity manager.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Security Associate position include a completion of secondary school education, with a Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International Relations, Commercial Law, or a related field focusing on security management being advantageous. A degree from a police academy or military college is highly desirable. Candidates should possess specialized knowledge of practical methods, techniques, and procedures used in security, typically gained through technical training and work experience. A broad understanding of security logistics, administration, and risk assessment is essential, along with training and experience in fire and related intervention procedures. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage emergency situations, remain calm under pressure, and possess excellent communication skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education. A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Peace and Conflict Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce, Psychology, International Relations, or Commercial Law with a focus on security management is preferred. Additionally, a degree from a police academy or military college is highly desirable, indicating a strong foundation in security principles and practices.

Experience:
A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience in security operations, security risk management, or related areas is required. Candidates with a background in security, military, or police experience will be given preference. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of security protocols and the ability to apply them effectively in various situations.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Urdu is mandatory. Candidates from Balochistan will have an advantage, indicating a preference for local knowledge and understanding of the regional context.
