Job Overview:
The Senior Technician (Fuselage) position is a critical role within the Aircraft Systems Branch of NATO. The individual in this position will be responsible for the maintenance production of various aircraft systems, including pneudraulic systems, fuel systems, fuselage/landing gears, and flight control systems. This role involves both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of aircraft and their components, ensuring that all work performed adheres to strict safety and regulatory compliance standards. The technician will also play a vital role in determining and confirming the serviceability status of aircraft, which is crucial for the safety of aircrew members and the operational readiness of the E-3A aircraft. The position requires a high level of technical acumen, physical fitness, and the ability to work in confined spaces, as well as a collaborative approach to foster a productive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Technician (Fuselage) include performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft fuselage systems, troubleshooting, servicing, inspecting, testing, modifying, evaluating, repairing, replacing, and adjusting aircraft components and related support/test equipment. The technician will conduct inspections and leak checks inside aircraft integral tanks, maintain inspection and maintenance records, support engine ground runs, and perform aircraft ground handling. Additionally, the technician will conduct acceptance and transfer inspections under the guidance of Quality Control, inspect and certify the condition of new parts, provide technical information on assigned equipment, assist in debriefing experts, and recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures. The role also involves functioning as a technical publications and tool monitor, providing training inputs, conducting on-the-job training for newly assigned personnel, cross-training in all section assigned trades, operating motor vehicles, and performing general housekeeping duties.

Required Qualifications:
The essential qualifications for this position include a very good working knowledge of aircraft fuselage systems maintenance, acquired through at least three years of related professional experience. Candidates should have a good understanding of interpreting technical publications and independently analyzing and rectifying technical problems. A higher secondary education with completed intermediate vocational training in aircraft maintenance is required, or secondary education with appropriate advanced vocational training and at least four years of post-related professional experience. A driving license equivalent to European Class B is necessary, and proficiency in English, both oral and written, is essential due to the nature of the work. Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is also required. Desirable qualifications include previous NATO assignments, experience in an international or military environment, experience in maintaining aircraft or aircraft systems, and basic training or knowledge of Disabled Aircraft Recovery (DAR).

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a higher secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training in aircraft maintenance, specifically covering aircraft fuselage systems. Alternatively, candidates with secondary education and appropriate advanced vocational training, along with at least four years of relevant professional experience, will also be considered. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of aircraft maintenance and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of related, current professional experience in aircraft fuselage systems maintenance. This experience should include hands-on work with aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices. Candidates with additional experience in an international or military environment, or those who have previously worked with NATO, will have an advantage in the selection process.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as all work is conducted in English at NATO Headquarters. Candidates must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency in both oral and written communication. While not mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in a multicultural work environment.

Additional Notes:
The position offers a definite duration contract of three years, with the possibility of transitioning to an indefinite duration contract thereafter. The salary is tax-free and based on NATO's Single Salary Spine scale, which includes expatriation, family, and children's allowances, as well as additional privileges for expatriate staff.
