Job Overview:
The Program Officer for the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) Ghana Program will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the STRIDES Activity in Ghana. This position involves providing administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure that project activities remain on schedule and within budget. The Program Officer will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and analyzing information pertinent to project activities, as well as providing administrative and project support. This role requires effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, including subcontractors and technical teams, to ensure compliance with project objectives and deliverables. The Program Officer will report directly to the STRIDES Ghana Project Director and will be instrumental in maintaining project documentation and tracking subcontractor deliverables, thereby contributing to the overall success of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: collaborating with the STRIDES project management team to meet project needs, providing administrative support such as planning meetings and managing travel requests, collecting and compiling project-related information for reports, maintaining distribution lists for project reports, facilitating communication with partners, coordinating project activities, managing the project calendar, setting up and maintaining project files, sending reminders for reporting deadlines, and writing and reviewing quarterly reports. Additionally, the Program Officer will assist with financial support by tracking performance against project budgets and objectives, serving as a liaison to internal finance and contracts units, and compiling cost information relevant to the STRIDES project. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to project deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a basic knowledge of project design concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software. The ability to solve problems and recommend corrective actions is necessary, as well as strong organizational skills and attention to detail. The candidate should be articulate and professional, capable of communicating clearly and positively with clients and staff. Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role requires reading, writing, and speaking in English.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Law, Economic Development, Education, Health, Research, Technology, Youth, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of project management and implementation in the context of public health and development.

Experience:
The position typically requires a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in supporting projects or technical practice areas. Candidates should have prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred, as it is essential for the administrative and reporting functions of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is critical for project success. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or project stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is expected to offer a competitive salary range indexed to USD 9,000 - 13,000 for annual basic salary. The final offer will take into account various factors including the applicant's relevant years of experience and education, internal equity, market pay, and budget considerations.
