Job Overview:
The Grants & Partnerships Coordinator serves as the mission's focal point for ensuring accountability to donors. This role involves contributing to the strategic development of the mission, monitoring and identifying funding opportunities that align with both the country and global strategies of SI. The coordinator is responsible for leading the planning, development, and consolidation of high-quality proposals, reports, and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners. Additionally, the coordinator must monitor compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle and build the capacity of both new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures. Proactive follow-up on donor contractual obligations is also a key responsibility. The position requires a strong focus on supporting the proposal season and developing structured partnerships with effective contractual management, while engaging with new donors to diversify funding sources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants & Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Contributing to the mission’s strategic development by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
  • Leading the planning and development of proposals, ensuring they are of high quality and submitted on time.
  • Monitoring compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle.
  • Building capacity among staff regarding internal accountability tools and donor procedures.
  • Proactively managing donor contractual obligations and ensuring adherence to them.
  • Managing the Grants & Partnerships Manager and providing guidance and support.
  • Supporting the proposal season as a technical support and coordinator.
  • Engaging with new donors to diversify funding and develop structured partnerships with strong contractual management.
  • Ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-policies" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security policies, especially during visits to NES/NWS.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in humanitarian assistance, social sciences, international relations, or other relevant fields. Additionally, candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0-2 years in a similar position. Technical skills required include experience in proposal development, reporting, and contractual management, as well as partnership management. Excellent writing skills in English are essential. Experience working with institutional donors is considered an asset, and experience in both development and emergency settings is appreciated.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as humanitarian assistance, social sciences, or international relations. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the necessary skills for effective management and coordination of grants and partnerships.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0-2 years in a similar role. This experience is vital for understanding the dynamics of grant management and partnership coordination in a humanitarian context, as well as for navigating the challenges that arise in such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language for reporting and communication with donors. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage, as it facilitates communication with local partners and stakeholders in Syria.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role, with compensation starting from EUR 2869 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2600 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, there is a monthly Per Diem of USD 75
  • SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The contract duration is for 4 months, subject to renewal, with a desired start date of 01/09/202
  • During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Damascus are relatively stable compared to other parts of Syria, with access to basic services, markets, and healthcare, although economic challenges persist. The role may require occasional travel to bases, which are maintained to the best possible standards, and shared accommodation is provided for expatriates.
