Job Overview:
The Monitoring Assistant position at WFP involves coordinating and ensuring the monitoring of activities within the designated intervention area. The role requires the individual to produce reports that assist in providing effective support for the implementation of various procedures and activities related to monitoring. The Monitoring Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the sub-office chief and the technical supervision of the RAM unit. The position is crucial for ensuring that the activities are carried out effectively and that the necessary data is collected and analyzed to inform decision-making. The Monitoring Assistant will also be responsible for engaging with beneficiaries and partners to improve production and access to markets, thereby contributing to the overall goals of WFP in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Monitoring Assistant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: coordinating field missions and ensuring coverage of all activity sites in the intervention area; sharing site visit reports with the RAM unit; reporting urgent incidents and recommendations following field missions; entering field reports into the designated platform; actively participating in the CFM mechanism established by RAM; proposing strategies for improving partner activities based on monitoring and situational assessments; guiding beneficiaries to enhance their production and access to lucrative markets; overseeing the identification and selection of schools, organizations, youth, and women involved in school feeding and resilience programs; facilitating the selection of viable pathways for youth and women in the intervention area; supporting women's associations in horticulture to improve production and market access; assisting beneficiaries in participating in value chain activities; producing monthly reports on activity monitoring and indicator progress; providing support to partners in developing technical and financial project proposals; analyzing partners' technical and financial proposals; reviewing partners' reports and providing necessary support in reporting school feeding, nutrition, and resilience activities; ensuring timely follow-up on partner payments in collaboration with country office units; advising partners on measures to ensure the protection and dignity of beneficiaries during assistance; monitoring community work, participant targeting, and food or cash transfer distributions; ensuring compliance with WFP standards regarding the quantity and quality of assistance provided; collecting data on project/program implementation, cross-cutting indicators, and preparing reports to guide decision-making; ensuring timely submission of partner reports and accurate recording of collected information; entering partner distribution reports into the WFP corporate platform (COMET) after analysis/approval; providing operational reports on the distribution of WFP assistance to guide corrective measures and project design/revision; sharing operational information on successes and challenges encountered during project implementation; contributing to community awareness on protection and gender issues in collaboration with cooperating partners; identifying and compiling key observations during monitoring and sharing them with the sub-office chief; participating in local coordination mechanisms related to integrated resilience, nutrition, and school feeding operations; supporting the organization of reviews and evaluations conducted by WFP in the coverage area; facilitating the organization of baseline and PDM surveys in the coverage area; and performing other related tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a secondary education complemented by a post-secondary certificate/diploma in one of the following fields: economics, agronomy, social sciences, statistics, nutrition, or related areas. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience with knowledge of school feeding, nutrition, and resilience activities. Ideally, candidates will have experience in agronomy/rural engineering, nutrition, program result collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and communication of findings to management, partners, and stakeholders. Experience in implementing and monitoring rural development activities is also preferred. Proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is required, while knowledge of English and local languages is considered an asset. Candidates should have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet usage. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as effectively engage with individuals from diverse nationalities and cultures, is essential. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interpret and analyze program-related issues and communicate complex matters both orally and in writing.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of secondary education, with a preference for candidates who have completed a post-secondary certificate or diploma in relevant fields such as economics, agronomy, social sciences, statistics, or nutrition. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and effectively contributing to the objectives of WFP.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least five years of relevant experience in areas related to school feeding, nutrition, and resilience activities. This experience should ideally include knowledge of agronomy, rural development, and the ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses. Candidates should have a proven track record of effectively communicating findings and collaborating with various stakeholders in the humanitarian sector.

Languages:
Proficiency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the region. Knowledge of English and local languages is considered advantageous and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and partners effectively.
