Job Overview:
The SPARC Safeguarding Implementation Lead is a pivotal role within MSF, responsible for driving the implementation and operationalization of the organization's safeguarding ambitions and strategic initiatives. This position is integral to ensuring that MSF's commitment to safeguarding is translated into practical, measurable actions across all levels of the organization. The lead will work closely with various stakeholders, including the International Safeguarding Coordinator, to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices. The role requires a strong focus on survivor-centered approaches and aims to enhance the prevention, detection, reporting, and response mechanisms related to safeguarding issues. The successful candidate will be expected to monitor progress, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to ensure that safeguarding remains a top priority within MSF's operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation of SPARC safeguarding ambitions and initiatives by coordinating and following up on strategic initiatives across the organization.
  • Translate safeguarding ambitions into actionable implementation plans, deliverables, and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor the movement-wide coordination of safeguarding initiatives and report on progress against objectives.
  • Develop guidance, tools, frameworks, and operational resources to support safeguarding implementation.
  • Drive cultural change by integrating safeguarding as a core organizational practice across MSF offices and projects.
  • Strengthen accountability and leadership engagement in safeguarding efforts.
  • Embed safeguarding responsibilities into organizational systems and workforce processes.
  • Monitor implementation progress, identify risks, and drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze trends and challenges in safeguarding implementation to inform strategic decision-making. 1
  • Produce reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate implementation progress and best practices. 1
  • Coordinate safeguarding reviews and evaluations to ensure recommendations are tracked and implemented.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices, with a proven ability to implement and monitor safeguarding initiatives in complex organizational settings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership capabilities and a commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices. Experience in project management and the ability to develop and implement strategic plans are also critical for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social sciences, public health, international development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in safeguarding, child protection, or related areas will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of safeguarding issues and best practices.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in safeguarding, protection, or related fields, preferably within an international humanitarian or development context. Experience in leading safeguarding initiatives and working with diverse teams is essential. Candidates should have a track record of successfully implementing safeguarding policies and practices in complex environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French or other languages spoken in MSF operational contexts is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and reporting.

Additional Notes:
This is a permanent position at 100% workload, with a starting date as soon as possible. The successful candidate will be offered a contract in the MSF office of their country of residence at the time of application.
