UNEP-CCC is involved in implementing the UN Environment Climate Change Strategy and Energy Programme, and it operates globally, supporting over 140 developing countries in their transparency obligations under the Paris Agreement through the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency - Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP).

Job Overview:
The consultancy role is centered around developing a professional end-of-project communications package for the Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency - Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP). This initiative is a five-year global climate transparency project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and executed by UNEP-CCC. The consultant will be responsible for documenting and communicating the achievements, lessons learned, and broader impact of the programme. The role requires strategic storytelling, visual communication, digital media, and stakeholder engagement to translate technical results into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. The objective is to create a high-quality end-of-project impact report and related communication assets that effectively showcase the programme's contributions to climate transparency systems globally, including compelling stories of change from various countries and partners. The consultant will also produce multimedia communication products to enhance visibility and outreach, ensuring that complex technical information is communicated clearly and engagingly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key deliverables: 1) Developing a communication strategy and inception report that outlines the storytelling approach, communication products, timelines, and stakeholder engagement processes. This includes conducting background research, analyzing project documents, mapping stakeholders, and planning interviews. 2) Writing seven professionally crafted impact stories that showcase transformational results from beneficiaries and regional networks, along with an interview report summarizing key findings and insights. 3) Producing a final approved impact report that includes programme achievements, key results, regional highlights, visual infographics, lessons learned, and the programme's legacy. 4) Creating a package of digital and multimedia communication products, including social media assets, infographics, and short videos that highlight perspectives from beneficiary countries and partners. All communication products must be delivered in both publication-ready and editable formats, along with a digital archive of source files.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or higher) in Communications, Journalism, Media and Public Relations, Graphic Design, International Development, or a related field, along with at least five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have a strong background in communications, strategic storytelling, or knowledge management, with proven experience in preparing high-quality impact reports for UN agencies or international development programmes. Experience in developing visual communication products, including infographics and social media campaigns, is essential, as is the ability to translate complex technical information into clear narratives. Strong editing and video production skills are also required, along with experience in climate change, sustainable development, and related international policy issues.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Media and Public Relations, Graphic Design, or International Development is required, or a Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in communication strategies and practices relevant to the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of professional experience with a Master’s degree or seven years with a Bachelor’s degree in communications, strategic storytelling, or knowledge management. Experience should include developing high-quality impact reports for UN agencies or international organizations, as well as a strong track record in visual communication and digital storytelling.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory. Proficiency in Spanish and/or French is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader audience.
