Job Overview:
The position of Staff Assistant (2030 OPFOR Sustainment Expert) is integral to the OPFOR team within the RIVAL Division at the JWC. The selected candidate will be responsible for shaping the representation of sustainment in NATO exercises, ensuring that all aspects of sustainment are accurately depicted in training scenarios. This role requires a strong analytical mindset and excellent interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. The Sustainment Expert will lead the integration of adversaries' sustainment capabilities into future exercises, contributing to the overall mission of the JWC to enhance NATO's warfighting readiness against sophisticated threats. The position is linked to the NATO-2030 agenda project and is limited to a three-year duration, emphasizing the urgency and importance of the role in the context of NATO's evolving operational landscape.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing expert advice on cyberspace warfare during the development of scenarios for JWC-directed exercises and wargames.
• Collaborating with the Chief OPFOR to ensure accurate representation of adversarial capabilities in training events.
• Drafting detailed maneuver schemes for cyberspace actors based on adversarial doctrines, particularly focusing on Russian capabilities.
• Leading a team of cyberspace experts during exercises, ensuring alignment with the Chief OPFOR's guidance.
• Conducting internal training sessions for the OPFOR Branch and the JWC to enhance knowledge and skills related to cyberspace warfare.
• Participating in workshops and training events to stay updated on the latest developments in cyberspace warfare.
• Establishing a network of liaisons with other subject-matter experts within the NATO Command Structure to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a combination of education and experience that demonstrates their capability to fulfill the role effectively. Specifically, candidates should have either:

• Higher Secondary education with completed vocational training in logistics planning, economics, or a related field, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience; or
• Secondary education with advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification, accompanied by 5 years of related experience. Additionally, candidates should have a strong understanding of adversaries' sustainment capabilities, particularly in a joint operational environment, and demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a higher secondary education with vocational training in logistics planning, economics, or a related discipline. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with secondary education and advanced vocational training that leads to a professional qualification. The emphasis is on obtaining a solid foundation in logistics and operational planning, which is critical for the role of Sustainment Expert.

Experience:
Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in sustainment planning within a joint operational environment. This experience should include a demonstrated understanding of adversaries' sustainment capabilities, particularly in relation to Russian military operations. Previous involvement in exercise planning or production, especially within a red team or opposing forces context, is highly desirable.

Languages:
The primary language for this position is English, and candidates should possess an upper-intermediate proficiency level. Additionally, knowledge of Russian is considered a valuable asset, with a requirement for SLP 2222 proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This linguistic capability will enhance communication and collaboration within the multinational environment of NATO operations.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role with a contract duration of three years, linked to a specific NATO project. The successful candidate will receive a starting salary of NOK 75,465.00 per month, which is tax-free, with potential additional allowances based on personal circumstances. The role may require irregular working hours, particularly during exercises and events, and travel for temporary duty may be necessary for conferences.
