Job Overview:
The position involves providing technical consultancy to support research, analysis, and systematization of analytical inputs related to the alignment of climate financing with national priorities. This role is crucial within the framework of the Baku to Belém Roadmap for achieving the $1.3 Trillion climate financing goal. The consultant will focus on ensuring that climate financing aligns with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and other relevant national strategies concerning climate and development. The consultant is expected to deliver high-quality analytical inputs that will inform decision-making processes and contribute to the effective implementation of climate financing strategies in Brazil. The assignment is set for a period of 60 days, during which the consultant will engage with various stakeholders to gather necessary data and insights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive research on climate financing mechanisms and their alignment with national priorities in Brazil.
• Analyze existing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) to identify gaps and opportunities for alignment with climate financing.
• Systematize analytical inputs and prepare reports that summarize findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with UNDP and other relevant entities to ensure that the analytical inputs are relevant and actionable.
• Facilitate workshops or meetings with stakeholders to discuss findings and gather feedback.
• Ensure timely submission of deliverables as per the agreed timeline.
• Respond to any requests for clarification or additional information from UNDP during the assignment period.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:

• Proven expertise in climate finance, environmental policy, or related fields.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable insights.
• Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations on climate-related projects.
• Familiarity with the Baku to Belém Roadmap and its implications for climate financing in Brazil.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Portuguese and English.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Climate Policy, Economics, or a related field. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. The educational background should demonstrate a strong foundation in climate change issues, financing mechanisms, and policy analysis.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in climate finance, environmental policy analysis, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP projects, is highly desirable. The candidate should also have a track record of successfully delivering consultancy services or research projects related to climate financing.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as the work will be conducted primarily in Brazil. Proficiency in English is also required, as the consultant will need to engage with international stakeholders and produce reports in English. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, particularly Spanish.

This consultancy position is for a fixed term of 60 days, and it is expected to be a full-time engagement. The consultant will be required to work remotely but may need to attend meetings or workshops in person, depending on the requirements of the project. The compensation will be commensurate with the consultant's experience and qualifications, and details will be discussed during the selection process.
