Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator for the Women in Leadership (WIL) Programme will provide strategic leadership and coordination to ensure the timely delivery of grant-funded results. This role involves effective management of implementing partners and service providers, adherence to donor requirements, and the achievement of project milestones. The coordinator will integrate programme outputs into WHO AFRO policies, systems, and practices. The position is crucial for advancing gender equality across the African Region by fostering an organizational culture that supports women's leadership and accountability. The incumbent will report to the Team Lead of the Regional Office Support Unit (ROSU) and will supervise project personnel, consultants, and service providers, including the Data and Reporting Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Programme Management and Delivery: Leading the planning and prioritization of programme interventions, identifying implementation risks, ensuring compliance with donor and WHO requirements, and coordinating the overall implementation of the Women in Leadership Programme.
  • Management of Service Providers and Consultants: Developing terms of reference, coordinating procurement and onboarding of consultants, and supervising deliverables.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Providing financial oversight, tracking expenditure, and ensuring compliance with financial requirements.
  • Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement: Coordinating engagement with senior management, organizing consultations and workshops, and serving as the focal point for project communications.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting: Supervising the Data and Reporting Officer, overseeing project dashboards, and ensuring lessons learned are captured.
  • Change Management and Organizational Integration: Providing inputs to organizational change management efforts and promoting sustainability of programme outcomes. The role may also include other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong set of competencies, including teamwork, respect for cultural differences, effective communication, results orientation, and adaptability in a changing environment. Essential knowledge and skills include project management, stakeholder engagement, contract management, budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and effective communication and facilitation skills.

Educational Background:
A first university degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, International Development, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field is essential. An advanced university degree is desirable.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in project/programme management, monitoring and reporting, consultant management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational change initiatives. Experience working with UN, international, or NGO organizations is desirable.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English or French is essential, with a good working knowledge of the other language. Intermediate knowledge of Portuguese is considered desirable.

The position offers a competitive remuneration package, including an annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, a variable post adjustment reflecting the cost of living, and various benefits such as 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
