Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Coordination Officer (Operations) plays a pivotal role in the operational security framework of the IAEA. Reporting directly to the Central Security Coordinator (CSC), this position is responsible for leading all operational security responsibilities at both headquarters and IAEA offices globally. The officer will support the CSC in ensuring that the IAEA adopts the latest operational practices and procedures related to travel security, incident/emergency response, and crisis management. This includes developing and implementing the Agency's crisis management plan and supervising the Associate Security Coordination Officer (Field Travel) to ensure compliance with the UN Security Management System (UNSMS). The role requires collaboration with various internal departments and external partners to deliver effective security services, ensuring the safety and security of IAEA operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Coordination Officer (Operations) will lead the implementation of HQ and travel security operations, focusing on minimum operating security standards (MOSS), crisis/incident management, emergency response, and security investigations. Key responsibilities include maintaining and reviewing local guidelines and procedures for crisis management, overseeing incident reporting and assessment capabilities, and coordinating security arrangements for special events. The officer will also provide expert guidance to junior staff, act on behalf of the Central Security Coordinator when necessary, and make recommendations for appropriate actions in response to security threats. Additionally, the officer will ensure that all security measures are in line with the UNSMS and that the safety of the Director General and other senior officials is prioritized.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a security-related field such as political science, business administration, or international relations. A strong asset is the United Nations Security Certification Programme (SCP) at the Fully Competent level or above. The position requires at least five years of progressively responsible experience in operational security or security management, with a minimum of three years within the UN Security Management System. Previous command or supervisory experience in military or law enforcement is also highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to promote knowledge management initiatives and have experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is mandatory, with a focus on security-related subjects. Candidates with degrees from recognized military or police institutions will also be considered. Additional certifications, particularly in security management, will enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in operational security or security management, with at least three years of experience working within the UN Security Management System. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in high-pressure environments and managing security operations effectively. Experience in a command or supervisory role within military or law enforcement is a strong asset, as is the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is essential. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's competitiveness for the position.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $71,335, along with a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, and relocation expenses. Employees are entitled to six weeks of annual leave, home leave travel, and health insurance.
