Job Overview:
The Chai Program Manager will lead the malaria team’s efforts across multiple grants and workstreams, overseeing project implementation and managing a strong team. This role is crucial for developing strategies that will significantly impact malaria elimination efforts in India. The manager will work closely with senior leadership and NCVBDC staff, contributing to the integration of innovative solutions and ensuring effective program execution. The position requires excellent strategic programming, people management, problem-solving, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Program Management and Leadership: Design and execute multiyear strategies for malaria programming and fundraising, develop cross-program collaborations, lead program performance reviews, guide the development of results frameworks and operational plans, track program progress, and facilitate fundraising efforts.
• Relationship Management: Develop key relationships with governmental and donor entities, engage with NCVBDC staff, maintain a stakeholder matrix, and guide the program team in navigating complex relationships.
• Strategic Communication: Update stakeholders on program progress, lead internal and external communication approaches, and tailor messages to achieve impact.
• People Management: Build team resilience, foster a collaborative environment, provide guidance in technical matters, monitor progress of team members, and address performance management issues.
• Financial Management: Execute program plans according to donor requirements, oversee budgets, and ensure effective resource allocation.
• Problem Solving: Manage program-related risks, ensure compliance with problem-solving approaches, and lead risk assessment exercises.
• Technical Expertise: Develop subject matter expertise among the program team and promote knowledge sharing at national and global levels.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or a postgraduate degree with 6+ years of experience in public health, public policy, or related fields. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in supporting health programs at state and national levels, in-depth knowledge of malaria, and a proven track record of working in multi-stakeholder environments. Strong relationship-building skills and an entrepreneurial mindset are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to travel as needed.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as public health, public policy, public administration, or social sciences. The educational background should be complemented by significant work experience in the health sector, particularly in program design and management.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience for candidates with a postgraduate degree, or 8 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in supporting health programs at both state and national levels, particularly with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is essential. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of malaria and experience in program management within the public health sphere.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but is not required.
