Job Overview:
The consultancy position involves co-designing and implementing fieldwork to investigate the role of Digital Public Goods (DPGs) in facilitating locally led climate adaptation in rural India, particularly emphasizing the empowerment of women in these processes. The consultancy is part of the CGIAR Climate Action Science Program (CASP), which aims to transform food, land, and water systems for a climate-resilient future. The selected organization or firm will collaborate with IFPRI to conduct a pilot research project that examines how AI-powered DPGs can support community-led climate adaptation efforts in the Indian states of Odisha and Jharkhand. The consultancy is expected to be completed by 2026, with a potential extension to March 2027, depending on funding availability.

The selected organization or firm will be responsible for several key activities, including:
Required Qualifications:
The applicant firm or organization should demonstrate expertise in interdisciplinary systems-change practices, particularly in applied systems thinking, system dynamics modeling, and participatory processes. A strong portfolio of climate, natural resource, and livelihoods-related systems work in India is essential. The technical lead must have over 15 years of experience in system dynamics modeling and group model building, with a proven track record of delivering over 20 systems thinking and modeling projects in India. The organization should also have access to a network of associates for field-level support and advisory roles.
Educational Background:
All key team personnel are required to hold a master's degree or PhD in fields such as economics, development studies, data science, rural management, or closely related disciplines. Additional qualifications include a minimum of 2 years of experience in field-based research, applied quantitative research, program implementation, or community engagement in rural settings, particularly with community-based organizations or programs focused on climate resilience and social protection.
Experience:
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative research, including interviews and focus group discussions, as well as the ability to organize, clean, and analyze field data. Familiarity with statistical and programming languages is also required. Experience with monitoring and evaluation, impact evaluation support, and survey implementation is essential, particularly using tools like SurveyCTO, ODK, or Kobo Toolbox.
Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional regional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

- Conceptualizing a governance framework for a locally led living lab to support socio-technical innovation and co-creation processes.
- Co-designing and administering the USE questionnaire for 400 respondents and the Pro-WEAI questionnaire for a sub-sample of 200 respondents.
- Facilitating Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping and System Dynamics Modeling exercises in selected locations across India.
- Analyzing collected data and producing comprehensive reports and outputs. Specific deliverables include conducting an inception meeting, training enumerators, collecting and digitizing baseline data, and producing technical reports on the study's aims by specified deadlines.
