Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer position is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and their eligible family members, as well as safeguarding UNICEF premises, assets, and resources. Reporting to the CFO or Security Manager, the Security Officer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance in managing security planning, risk assessments, and safety services. The role involves engaging in security networking and partnership building, as well as contributing to innovation and knowledge management within the organization. The Security Officer will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to UNICEF's mission and values while effectively managing security risks and ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct security risk assessments and develop security plans to mitigate identified risks.
• Provide safety and security services to UNICEF personnel and their families.
• Build and maintain partnerships with local security agencies and organizations to enhance security measures.
• Engage in knowledge management initiatives to improve security practices and protocols.
• Participate in training and capacity-building activities related to security management.
• Monitor and report on security incidents and trends affecting UNICEF operations.
• Collaborate with other UN agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to security management.
• Ensure compliance with the United Nations Security Management System and relevant policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in fields such as Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Diplomatic Studies, or related technical fields. Additionally, candidates should have strong skills in conflict analysis, intelligence analysis, risk management, and security documentation. Experience in security training is also beneficial. Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset. Demonstrated international security management experience and understanding of the UN Security Management System is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Security Risk Management, International Relations, Conflict Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, or related disciplines is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of security management and risk assessment in various contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of professional experience in global security risk management and/or security analysis. This experience should ideally include working in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, providing a solid foundation for understanding the security challenges faced by UNICEF in various operational environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is a mandatory requirement for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile, particularly in international contexts where multilingual communication is beneficial.
