Job Overview:
The UNCTAD internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme is designed to provide students and recent graduates with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of international trade and development. This specific internship is located in Geneva and is focused on the Sustainable Ocean and Blue Economy Programme within the Trade, Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Branch of the Division on International Trade and Commodities (DITC). Interns will be expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a duration of six months, starting from 17 September 202

• The internship is unpaid, and all costs related to travel, accommodation, and living expenses must be covered by the intern. Interns will engage in various analytical and capacity-building activities aimed at supporting developing countries in leveraging sustainable development opportunities offered by the oceans economy while addressing climate change. The role will involve working closely with the Project Officer and other staff members, contributing to research, policy analysis, and event preparations related to the oceans economy and sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: preparing briefing notes, speeches, presentations, and communication materials related to the oceans economy, trade, fisheries, and climate change; conducting economic, legal, and political analysis; compiling and analyzing regulatory trends and environmental data; supporting the preparation and organization of events and trainings related to the Sustainable Ocean and Blue Economy Programme; assisting in the documentation of meetings and preparing reports; and translating complex technical content into accessible language for diverse stakeholders. Interns will also be expected to perform other related duties as required to support the workplan of the Trade, Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Branch of DITC, and participate in on-the-job training activities if available.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific qualifications to be considered for the internship. They should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, interns should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. They should possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. A background in economics, environmental studies, international relations, international organizations, or political sciences is preferred, although no prior work experience is required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or having completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program. The field of study should be closely related to the internship focus, such as economics, environmental studies, international relations, or political sciences. Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. Languages:
