Job Overview:
The Associate Banker position is integral to the Regional Office team, focusing on investments in Côte d'Ivoire. This role encompasses all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The Associate Banker is expected to take on various responsibilities assigned by the operation leader, which may involve conducting thorough due diligence across financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policy compliance. The role also includes post-signing implementation and monitoring, as well as elements of business development, client management, and policy dialogue. The Associate Banker will specifically concentrate on natural resources subsectors, such as mining and metals, mining-related services, and low-carbon investments aimed at facilitating the energy transition of fossil fuel companies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Banker will work under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker, contributing to project structuring and execution. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with project teams on transactions, ensuring quality and scope of project due diligence;
  • Preparing internal project documentation, including project memoranda, financial models, and presentations;
  • Leading the design and processing of technical cooperation assistance;
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks in accordance with Bank policies;
  • Monitoring project implementation and financial performance, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with project agreements;
  • Preparing comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions;
  • Assisting in marketing and business development efforts;
  • Providing guidance to junior team members and potentially taking on the role of operation leader for standard transactions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and utilize financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills and be proficient in local and international accounting principles. Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office and financial modeling software, is required. Excellent communication skills in both English and French are mandatory, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, as it provides deeper knowledge and expertise in financial analysis and project management. Additional professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are highly regarded and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in the financial industry, ideally from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm that operates to international standards. Practical experience in participating in debt and equity transactions throughout the project life cycle is essential. Familiarity with the natural resources subsectors and an understanding of sector dynamics and trends in Côte d'Ivoire or broader sub-Saharan Africa is a plus.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and French is mandatory for this position, as the role involves collaboration with international teams and requires effective communication with stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
