Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern will support UNRCPD in its mission to promote peace and disarmament in the Asia-Pacific region. The intern will engage in various programmatic areas, including Weapons of Mass Destruction, Conventional Arms and Ammunition, Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Education, and Cross-cutting Issues such as Gender, Youth, and Emerging Technologies Security. The role is designed to provide practical experience in strategic communications and public outreach, allowing the intern to contribute to the organization's efforts in disseminating information and raising awareness about disarmament issues. Daily responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background and assigned tasks, providing a unique opportunity to gain insights into the workings of a UN agency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will undertake a variety of tasks under the supervision of an assigned officer, which may include: assisting with strategic communications and public outreach activities; preparing media and communication products for the Office's website and social media platforms; drafting and editing publications such as fact sheets, brochures, newsletters, and donor updates; preparing presentations, outreach materials, and visual content to support program activities; conducting background research and compiling information related to disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation issues; organizing meetings, workshops, seminars, and training activities, providing logistical and administrative support as required; preparing meeting notes, briefing materials, and other supporting documentation; contributing ideas to support communication, outreach, and design initiatives; and performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent). Importantly, applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the program, but a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. The field of study should be closely related to the internship's focus areas, such as international relations, communications, disarmament studies, or other relevant disciplines. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required educational qualifications must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to disarmament, international relations, or public communications.

Languages:
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another UN official language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week, totaling 35 hours. Interns will work under the supervision of a professional staff member and report directly to the Director of UNRCPD.
