Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Dakar, Senegal, and is offered for a duration of three to six months. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNIC’s Director and/or the National Information Officer (NIO). The primary focus of this internship is to support UNIC's communication activities through the production of visual content, graphic design assistance, and event coverage. The intern will contribute to enhancing the visibility of UN messages, campaigns, and initiatives. This role requires full-time commitment, with interns expected to work five days a week in-person. The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own living expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting the communication efforts of the UNIC. Specific duties include:

• Assisting in the coverage of UN events, campaigns, and activities through photography and video documentation.
• Selecting, editing, and organizing visual content in line with UN communication standards.
• Creating infographics, social media visuals, and basic graphic materials to promote UN initiatives.
• Adapting visual content for various digital platforms and social media channels.
• Engaging in video production and editing tasks.
• Performing any other communication-related tasks as assigned by the CINU.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly Adobe Suite, Canva, CapCut, InShot, VN, and MS Teams. Skills in filming and camera work are essential, along with the ability to draft news articles and social media posts. A basic understanding of graphic design and visual content creation tools is desirable, as is an interest in photography, visual storytelling, and digital communication.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a university degree in or be pursuing a degree in Communication, Graphic Design, or Multimedia. A demonstrated interest in visual communication, digital content, or media production is essential for this role.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandated, familiarity with visual content production and graphic design is highly beneficial. The internship is designed for individuals who are either currently studying or have recently completed their studies in relevant fields.

Languages:
Fluency in French is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in English is also necessary. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset and is desirable for candidates.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of Senegal may need to secure the appropriate visa and work authorization.
