Job Overview: The Technical Instructor for Interior Design in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program at UNRWA is responsible for designing and delivering educational programs that equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge in the field of interior design. The instructor will support the development of learning programs and curricula, conduct occupational and competency analyses, and integrate new technologies into the teaching process. The role involves facilitating both school-based and work-based learning, preparing training venues, and managing classroom dynamics to ensure an inclusive learning environment. The instructor will also be responsible for designing assessments, building relationships with employers, and applying quality assurance measures throughout the training cycle. Additionally, the instructor will contribute to greening and digitalization initiatives within the TVET framework, ensuring that students are equipped with relevant skills for the modern workforce. The position requires collaboration with other instructors and staff to maintain a respectful and organized learning environment, while also implementing health and safety measures in the training center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of learning programs and curricula, including conducting occupational and competency analyses, drafting program profiles, and integrating emerging technologies.
Facilitate the delivery of school-based and work-based learning programs, including preparing training venues, selecting trainees, and developing inclusive training plans.
Design and implement student assessments, including formative and summative assessments, and develop assessment sheets and implementation plans.
Build linkages with employers and TVET instructors, collect labor market information, and conduct skills needs assessments.
Apply quality assurance tools and processes in accordance with UNRWA's TVET Quality Assurance Framework.
Support greening and digitalization initiatives, designing and implementing relevant training programs.
Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate teaching and learning processes, maintain discipline, and implement co-curricular activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree of four years from an accredited institution in Fine Arts with a specialization in Interior Architecture. For Grade 11, no prior experience is required. For Grade 12, candidates must have two years of progressively responsible teaching experience or an advanced degree in a relevant field. For Grade 13, candidates must have four years of teaching experience or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience. Equivalency may apply for this position, allowing for combinations of education and experience that meet the job requirements.
Educational Background: A university degree of four years from an accredited educational institution in Fine Arts with a major specialization in Interior Architecture is required. Advanced degrees in relevant fields such as education or psychology may also be considered, particularly for higher grade levels. All degrees must be from accredited institutions, and candidates must provide documentation of their qualifications.
Experience: The level of experience required varies by grade level. For Grade 11, no experience is necessary. For Grade 12, two years of relevant teaching experience is required. For Grade 13, candidates must have four years of progressively responsible teaching experience or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
Languages: English and Arabic are required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages at UN Level II for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a 'Daily Paid' contract for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The daily rates vary by grade: Grade 11 at 29.17 USD, Grade 12 at 31.33 USD, and Grade 13 at 34.28 USD. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. This vacancy is open to external candidates residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station in Damascus.
