Job Overview:
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing WFP’s quality assurance capabilities across the Individual Giving technology ecosystem. This position is integral to the IG Tech & Operations team and will ensure that all changes across platforms such as GoDonate, Salesforce, and various payment systems are reliable and validated against defined acceptance and risk criteria. The role is designed to bridge the gap between the emerging QA function and the necessary system-wide release confidence required for a scaled, multi-platform fundraising environment. The incumbent will establish testing standards, lead regression and integration testing efforts, and ensure comprehensive validation of supporter, operational, and reporting flows. This position requires collaboration with various technical and operational teams to ensure coherent and sustainable testing processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement system-level QA standards across the IG fundraising platform, ensuring coherence across all systems.
  • Lead end-to-end validation for cross-system flows, ensuring correctness across all layers of the ecosystem.
  • Conduct structured release readiness reviews and provide independent recommendations on release safety.
  • Partner with Integration and Data Engineers to verify that data flows and integrations behave as intended.
  • Design and execute detailed test suites across platforms, producing structured test evidence for release gating.
  • Guide and mentor junior QA staff, ensuring effective regression and defect validation activities.
  • Identify systemic failure modes and escalate unresolved risks to the Strategic Delivery Hub.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure test planning aligns with architectural constraints and delivery sequencing.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as required to support the evolution and reliability of the technology ecosystem.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in quality assurance, system testing, or platform engineering within complex technology environments is required. Preference will be given to those with experience in integrated multi-platform ecosystems involving CRM, payments, and marketing platforms. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential, along with the ability to work in agile environments and manage conflicting priorities. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are necessary for working with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems is required. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a strong foundation in quality assurance principles and practices, particularly in complex technology environments.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in quality assurance, system testing, or technical delivery. Candidates should have experience working across integrated multi-platform ecosystems and be familiar with testing tools, automation, and release processes. Experience in agile and iterative delivery environments is also important, as is the ability to balance delivery pragmatism with appropriate risk management.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language would be advantageous, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment.

Additional Notes:
The position is a Regular Consultant role with a duration of 11 months. It offers the flexibility of being based in Rome HQ or working remotely. WFP emphasizes a commitment to diversity and equal opportunity in its hiring practices, and all employment decisions are made based on organizational needs and individual qualifications. The organization provides a competitive compensation package and invests in the professional development of its employees.
