Job Overview: The Associate Scientist position at CIMMYT is a pivotal role within the Genome Editing (GE) Platform, aimed at advancing biotechnology research for target crops. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team focused on developing and implementing genome editing technologies for crops such as maize, wheat, groundnut, pearl millet, and sorghum. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Scientist include designing and developing genome editing constructs utilizing CRISPR-Cas and related systems. The candidate will generate transient and stable edited lines through Agrobacterium-mediated and biolistic transformation methods. They will analyze edited events using molecular and sequencing tools and apply sgRNA libraries for genome-wide editing studies. Additionally, the Associate Scientist will contribute to protocol optimization, phenotyping, proposal writing, and manuscript preparation. Presenting and publishing research findings is a key responsibility, along with supervising students and visiting scientists to foster a collaborative research environment.
