The position is located in the Division on Investment and Enterprise of the United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Job Overview:
The Chief of the Enterprise Branch is responsible for formulating and implementing the substantive work programme of the Branch, overseeing management activities, ensuring timely execution of programmed activities, and coordinating work across different areas within the Division and with other UN organizations. This role involves leading the work programme, coordinating reports for intergovernmental bodies, ensuring high-quality outputs, assisting in resource allocation, managing administrative tasks, fostering teamwork, and representing the organization in various meetings. The Chief will also be expected to provide substantive expertise on sustainability, accounting, entrepreneurship, and business facilitation issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief of the Enterprise Branch will lead and supervise the work programme, coordinating activities across various work units such as sustainability, accounting, corporate governance, and entrepreneurship. Responsibilities include preparing reports for intergovernmental bodies, ensuring outputs meet high-quality standards, assisting the Director in work programme preparation, managing budgets, evaluating staff performance, fostering teamwork, organizing meetings and seminars, and representing the organization in international discussions. The Chief will also be responsible for mobilizing resources and building partnerships to support sustainable development initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of the substantive field of work, particularly in resource mobilization for sustainable development, accounting, corporate governance, and entrepreneurship. They should demonstrate the ability to produce technical reports, apply UN regulations, and mobilize support from diverse stakeholders. Professionalism, teamwork, accountability, leadership, and trust-building are essential competencies for this role.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Specialization in business management or enterprise development is desirable.

Experience:
A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, and programme management in enterprise development or related fields is required. Candidates should have prior experience in sustainable resource mobilization and leading teams in international organizations. Experience in facilitating intergovernmental or legislative processes is also desirable.

Languages:
English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level III in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Desirable languages include French, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Arabic, and Russian, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in these languages.
