Job Overview:
The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the ATHIS project, which aims to equip professionals with the necessary skills to bridge the gap between policy and practice in social housing. The consultant will work closely with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams, focusing on developing training plans and materials tailored to various target audiences, including municipal professionals and civil society organizations. The position requires delivering training sessions that prioritize practical learning and field-based activities, as well as providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation strategies. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing reports and participating in field missions as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's responsibilities include: 1) Supporting the development of initial premises and identifying priority thematic areas for the ATHIS training plan; 2) Developing a comprehensive training plan and materials for an ATHIS training course structured into three modules; 3) Delivering training sessions that emphasize practical, hands-on learning; 4) Providing technical support for the participatory development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 5) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions for global south ATHIS professionals; 6) Developing a methodology handbook for the Monitoring and Evaluation tool; 7) Conducting collaborative training with CAU/SP professionals; 8) Designing mechanisms to assess participants’ learning outcomes; 9) Preparing reports documenting training activities; 10) Participating in field missions as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or have three additional years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing in Brazil, with experience in capacity building programs and teaching being essential. Desirable qualifications include experience with social housing, South-South Cooperation, and previous work with the United Nations. Strong computer skills and familiarity with project management methodologies are also required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is required for this position. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields will be preferred. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in urban development and social housing principles.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in urban development and/or social housing, particularly within the Brazilian context. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while experience with social housing and South-South Cooperation is desirable. Candidates should also have experience coordinating fieldwork, preferably in the public sector, and previous experience working with the United Nations is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, given the local context of the work. Working knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in Spanish is also beneficial, particularly for communication within the Regional Office.

Additional Notes:
The consultant will be appointed on a local basis, and only nationals from Brazil or those with a permanent visa may apply. The contract is part-time (48%) for a duration of five months, with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
