Job Overview:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and family violence. This position involves working within a case management framework in an outreach role, providing holistic support to vulnerable clients. You will be part of a dedicated Domestic and Family Violence Support team based in Mount Isa, working flexible hours to ensure that support is available until 10pm, seven days a week. Your work will focus on creating positive change for children and families, ensuring their voices are heard, and promoting skills that enhance health, safety, and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include providing holistic case management to clients, ensuring that their needs are met and that they receive the necessary support. You will be responsible for identifying client strengths, establishing goals, and reviewing progress towards these goals. Additionally, you will promote the voices of children and young people, ensuring they are central to the support process. You will also be expected to deliver support that fosters healthy relationships and favorable outcomes for clients, while maintaining a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on families, particularly Indigenous families.

Required Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need demonstrated experience in case management, along with a strong understanding of relevant legislation related to domestic and family violence. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is essential, as is the ability to write reports and analyze data effectively. You should possess strong analytical skills and be able to evaluate client progress and program effectiveness. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is required, along with significant experience in the domestic and family violence sector.
