Job Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in leading the construction phase of infrastructure projects, specifically within the mechanical engineering domain. This position requires a strong focus on ensuring that all projects adhere to quality standards, budget constraints, and timelines. The engineer will be responsible for promoting resilient, safe, and sustainable construction practices that align with UNOPS standards. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the construction phase of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement engineering solutions that meet project specifications and standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including engineering designs, specifications, and reports.
• Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with mechanical engineering aspects of projects.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to mechanical engineering.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required. A master's degree or professional certification in mechanical engineering or project management is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on construction and infrastructure projects. Experience working with international organizations or in a multicultural environment is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the region. Proficiency in English is considered an asset and may be beneficial for collaboration with international teams and stakeholders.
