Job Overview: The Senior Ethics Officer will play a crucial role in delivering the mandate of the United Nations Ethics Office. Duties and Responsibilities:

Administer the UN financial disclosure program, oversee the financial disclosure process, and manage the engagement with external service providers.
Contribute to policy coherence and standard-setting by assisting the Director in providing leadership to the Ethics Panel of the United Nations and preparing high-level policy advice.
Assist in managing the office, supervising colleagues, and ensuring the quality of work within the unit.
Coordinate the drafting of reports for presentation to the General Assembly and assist the Director in appearing before various policy-making organs.
Perform other duties as directed by the Director and help develop and implement the strategic priorities of the Office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess proven analytical and evaluative capabilities, excellent knowledge in ethics advice, financial disclosure, and business ethics. They should have a strong understanding of the complexities of the United Nations mandates and ethical risks, as well as the ability to produce analytical briefing notes for senior managers. Leadership experience in an international organization is highly desirable, along with the ability to inspire others and build effective working relationships.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, organizational ethics, public or business administration with a focus on public sector or administrative ethics is required. A first-level degree in the specified fields combined with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, human resources management, administrative law, ethics, compliance, and related areas within a governmental or public sector organization is required. Additionally, at least five years of experience in providing confidential ethics advice and engaging with senior officials is necessary. Experience in administering a financial disclosure program is desirable, as is engagement with governance and legislative processes at the international level.
Languages: English is required for this position, while French is desirable. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and candidates must meet the minimum required level for each skill in these languages according to the UN Language Framework.
