Job Overview:
The position of Project Associate in the Social and Human Sciences Sector at UNESCO involves providing comprehensive support for the implementation of the 'Kickstart Her Future – India' project, which aims to promote the safe and inclusive participation of adolescent girls in sports and physical activities. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Programme Specialist and Chief of the SHS Sector, assisting in various aspects of project management, including planning, coordination, financial administration, monitoring, and reporting. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that project activities are executed efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the initiative. The Project Associate will also engage with stakeholders, facilitate communication, and support the development of project materials and resources, ensuring alignment with UNESCO's objectives and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Assisting in the preparation and updating of project work plans, activity schedules, and monitoring tools.
  • Coordinating logistical arrangements for project activities, meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Liaising with implementing partners and service providers to ensure smooth operational processes.
  • Maintaining project implementation records and monitoring progress against timelines.
  • Supporting the organization and documentation of Project Steering Committee meetings.
  • Assisting in budget administration by monitoring expenditures and preparing financial documentation.
  • Supporting the implementation of the project monitoring framework and maintaining project databases.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate communication and information exchange.
  • Conducting background research and compiling information relevant to project activities. 1
  • Providing administrative support to other SHS Sector projects as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a post-secondary qualification in business administration, social sciences, international relations, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in project management or programme coordination is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience in budget management, financial reporting, and stakeholder engagement, as well as the ability to support multiple project activities simultaneously. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a diploma, certificate, or university degree in a relevant field such as business administration, social sciences, or international relations. A strong academic foundation in these areas will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support project implementation and management.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in project management or programme coordination. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in budget management, financial reporting, and supporting stakeholder consultations and partnership activities. Experience in monitoring and reporting activities, including data collection and preparation of project reports, is also essential. Familiarity with UNESCO's programs and normative tools, particularly in the field of Social and Human Sciences, is advantageous.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Good knowledge of Hindi is also required, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and partners. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken in India, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities.

  • The position is open to external candidates, and the approximate gross monthly salary is Rs.119,529, which includes a social security contribution.
