Job Overview:
The Counsel - Private Sector Investment & Treasury Operations position at AIIB is crucial for providing legal and policy advice related to the bank's finance and treasury operations. This role involves safeguarding AIIB's interests and ensuring compliance with its mandate, policies, and procedures. The Counsel will work closely with various departments, including Finance, Risk Management, and others, to deliver high-quality legal support. The position requires a proactive approach to developing legal document templates, structuring transactions, and collaborating with other multilateral development banks and development partners. The Counsel is expected to demonstrate good judgment, accountability, and contribute to institutional initiatives while promoting innovative approaches within AIIB's legal framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Counsel will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: providing high-quality legal and policy advice to the Finance (Treasury & Controller), Risk Management, and other departments; developing and maintaining legal document templates to ensure compliance with best practices; coordinating with other multilateral development banks and development partners; advising on transaction structuring, managing external legal counsel, and drafting and negotiating transaction documents; conducting legal research and presenting findings; promoting innovative approaches and simplifying processes; and contributing to institutional initiatives while ensuring adherence to AIIB's policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant post-qualification practice experience, preferably with part of this experience gained at a top-tier law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law firm. They should have an excellent command of English, particularly in drafting and negotiating legal documents. The ability to negotiate complex legal documents with various counterparties is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent legal drafting capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-cultural environment. Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and partnership skills are required, along with the ability to innovate while managing legal risks.

Educational Background:
An LLM degree or equivalent is required, and candidates must be qualified to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. This educational background is essential to ensure that the Counsel can effectively navigate the legal complexities associated with AIIB's operations.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in legal practice, with a strong preference for experience gained in a top-tier international law firm. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the Counsel can handle the complexities of AIIB's finance and treasury operations effectively.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, particularly in legal drafting and negotiation. While English is the primary language required for this position, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the Counsel's ability to work in a diverse and international environment.
