Job Overview: The Product Manager, Specialist position at WFP is a critical role within the Private Partnerships and Fundraising Division (PSP). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the product roadmap and strategy for ShareTheMeal, WFP’s innovative fundraising and awareness-raising app. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including external partners and WFP staff, to derive options for product strategy and architecture. The Product Manager will lead user research and data analysis to inform product decisions, implement new features, and ensure alignment across platforms. The position requires a strong focus on enhancing user engagement and growing the user base through effective marketing and communication initiatives. The ultimate goal is to support WFP’s mission of achieving zero hunger by mobilizing resources and increasing the impact of the ShareTheMeal app.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will report to the Head of Product for the ShareTheMeal initiative and will be expected to perform the following duties:
Develop and manage a comprehensive product roadmap and strategy for ShareTheMeal, collaborating with the Head of Product.
Conduct discussions with relevant external counterparts and WFP staff to derive options on the product strategy.
Prepare discussion documents for the product strategy and architecture, including standards.
Work with external partners to align ShareTheMeal product features with related services and products, such as payment platforms and hosting providers.
Lead both quantitative and qualitative user research and data analysis to guide product decisions and A/B tests, managing follow-up UI/UX iterations and improvements.
Implement new features to enhance existing functionalities in collaboration with the development team.
Define functional requirements and prepare clear specifications, ensuring alignment on timelines and technical dependencies.
Collaborate with the Development team, UI/UX design, QA, content, localization, and BI teams to ensure successful implementation and rollout of features.
Support other activities as required, contributing to the overall success of the ShareTheMeal initiative.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree and have at least 5 years of experience in product management, specifically with native iOS and Android apps and web platforms, preferably in transaction-focused applications within the e-commerce industry. Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative, are essential, along with the capacity to produce high-quality written materials. Excellent communication and coordination skills are required to effectively interact with stakeholders, developers, designers, and other team members. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, including proficiency in tools such as Amplitude and Metabase, and possess mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills. A collaborative spirit is necessary to liaise with a diverse range of individuals across different cultures, acting with credibility and diplomacy. Strong time management skills are also crucial, with the ability to plan, anticipate requirements, and manage competing priorities successfully.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant fields may have an advantage, but a Bachelor’s degree is the minimum educational requirement.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in product management, particularly with native iOS and Android applications and web platforms. Experience in managing transaction-focused apps in the e-commerce sector is highly preferred, as it aligns with the goals of the ShareTheMeal initiative.
Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of a second UN language is considered a plus and may enhance a candidate's application, reflecting the organization's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as a CST Level I contract and is expected to last for 11 months. The role is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location.
