Job Overview: The Program Officer position at WJCF, affiliated with CHAI, is focused on providing technical support to the National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC) in India. The role involves strengthening program management, particularly in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), to facilitate data-driven decision-making. The Program Officer will leverage multiple data sources and field insights to deliver critical program insights, support data collation, analysis, and visualization, and identify innovative approaches to achieve malaria elimination goals. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and reporting to the Head of the Malaria Department at NCVBDC and the TSU team lead at WJCF.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will be responsible for consolidating, cleaning, and conducting multi-dimensional analysis on programmatic data to provide insights for informed decision-making at NCVBDC. They will assess the existing surveillance framework, identify gaps, and suggest improvements. The role includes developing and managing a surveillance data quality assurance framework, creating dashboards and decision support tools, and communicating key findings through technical briefs and fact sheets. The Program Officer will document program progress, undertake visits to states and districts to address challenges, and work closely with the malaria team to align priorities and manage stakeholder relationships. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, economics, sociology, or related fields, with at least 6 years of professional experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience. Professional experience in a demanding private sector environment, such as strategy consulting or public sector advisory, is required. Candidates should have experience in M&E, data analytics, and dashboard development for multilateral funded projects, along with high proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in relevant fields such as public health, epidemiology, economics, or sociology. The position demands a solid foundation in these areas to effectively analyze data and support program management.
Experience: The position requires at least 6 years of professional experience in relevant fields, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
