The position is located within the Common Administrative Platform at United Nations Headquarters, known as the One Executive Office (One EO), under the Division of Administration in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The One EO is undergoing a transition phase that began on January 1, 2026, as part of the UN80 reform initiative, which aims to consolidate common administrative functions across various Secretariat entities into unified service platforms. The organization provides a comprehensive range of administrative and operational services required by New York-based Secretariat client entities to fulfill their mandates, including human resources management, financial administration, travel, and general administrative support.

Job Overview:
The Finance & Budget Assistant will play a crucial role in providing administrative and operational support to various departments within the United Nations, specifically the Department of Operational Support (DOS), the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), the Enterprise Resource Planning Solution Division (ERPSD), and the Department of Management, Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The incumbent will report directly to the Chief of the Desk and will work under the overall guidance of the Director of Administration. This position requires a strong understanding of financial rules and regulations within the UN environment, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret financial data. The assistant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures while providing support in budget reviews and financial transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance & Budget Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including acting as a Certifying Officer in the absence of program managers, scrutinizing source documents for completeness and accuracy, providing input into accounting records, preparing transactions for budget releases, and monitoring resources administered by One EO. The assistant will review requisitions for goods and services, analyze complex accounting transactions, and ensure the integrity of financial databases. Additionally, the role involves drafting correspondence related to financial matters, providing guidance and training to other staff, and performing other related duties as assigned. The assistant will also be expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant documents and guidelines, ensuring compliance with intergovernmental recommendations and UN policies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, or administrative services. Experience in managing budgetary resources, financial management, and transacting in ERP systems such as SAP (Umoja) is required. The candidate should also have experience in certifying the acquisition of goods and services, servicing multiple clients, and reviewing and reconciling expenditures. Proficiency in using Business Intelligence (BI) reports and analytics software, such as Umoja Analytics, is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. While specific job-related qualifications are not detailed, the educational background should support the necessary skills and knowledge for the financial and administrative functions outlined in the job description.

Experience:
