Job Overview:
The Community Lead – Enterprise Development position is designed to enhance the economic resilience of micro and small businesses in Livingstone, Zambia, particularly those led by youth. The role involves implementing the 'In Motion Methodology' to provide mentorship, operational training, and strategic capability-building to young entrepreneurs. The primary objective is to support these businesses in becoming competitive in larger markets and meeting international standards. The position requires a proactive approach to training and technical assistance, ensuring that local enterprises can thrive and contribute to the broader economic landscape of Livingstone, which is known for its rich tourism and cultural heritage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Lead will undertake several key tasks, including:
  • Conducting group trainings based on the 'In Motion Methodology' to empower local entrepreneurs.
  • Providing on-site specialized technical assistance to micro, small, and medium business owners in Livingstone, ensuring adherence to the program's methodology.
  • Participating in weekly Management Team meetings to report on the implementation status of the methodology.
  • Processing surveyed information and preparing reports that align with UNDP's specifications.
  • Collaborating with beneficiaries and the Management Team to facilitate enterprise innovation and renovation, including the delivery of necessary equipment.
  • Coordinating marketing strategies with the project’s Graphic Designer to enhance visibility and outreach.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of UNDP, with sensitivity to cultural, gender, and age diversity. They should possess advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and web-based applications, and have a proven ability to deliver quality outputs under tight deadlines. Excellent communication and facilitation skills are essential, along with a strong capability in conducting gender mainstreaming activities and possessing robust research and analytical skills.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in business administration, economics, social sciences, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in enterprise development or entrepreneurship would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in enterprise development, business consulting, or a related field. Experience working with micro and small enterprises, particularly in a developing country context, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the tourism sector and youth entrepreneurship will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Zambia would be beneficial but is not required.

This position is based in Livingstone, Zambia, and may involve travel within the region. The role is full-time and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate training sessions and business support activities.
