Job Overview:
The Community Lead – Enterprise Development position is designed to support the economic empowerment of youth in Kitwe, Zambia, by implementing the 'In Motion Methodology' to enhance the capacity of micro and small enterprises (MSMEs). This role involves providing group training and on-site technical assistance to local business owners, focusing on mentorship, operational training, and strategic capability-building. The aim is to help these businesses compete in larger markets and meet international standards, thereby contributing to the overall economic resilience of the region. The position requires collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders to develop sustainable business and tourism strategies that leverage Kitwe's unique strengths and diversify its economy beyond mining.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Lead will undertake various tasks, including:
  • Conducting group trainings based on the 'In Motion Methodology' to enhance the skills of micro and small business owners.
  • Providing on-site specialized technical assistance to MSME owners in Livingstone, ensuring adherence to the program's methodology and templates.
  • Participating in weekly Management Team meetings to report on the implementation status of the methodology.
  • Processing surveyed information and preparing reports that align with UNDP's specifications under the 'In Motion Methodology'.
  • Collaborating with beneficiaries and the Management Team to support enterprise innovation and renovation, including the delivery of necessary equipment.
  • Coordinating strategic marketing actions with the Graphic Designer within the Project Team to enhance visibility and outreach for the businesses involved.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to UNDP’s mission and values, showcasing sensitivity and adaptability to diverse cultural backgrounds. The position requires integrity, discretion, and loyalty, along with advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and web-based applications. Candidates should possess excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven ability to deliver quality outputs under tight deadlines, and strong research and analytical capabilities. Experience in conducting gender mainstreaming activities is also essential.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in business administration, economics, social sciences, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in enterprise development, entrepreneurship, or capacity building would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a proven track record in enterprise development, particularly in working with micro and small businesses. Experience in providing training and technical assistance, as well as familiarity with the 'In Motion Methodology' or similar frameworks, is highly desirable. A background in project management and collaboration with local stakeholders will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for reporting purposes. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Zambia would be an asset, enhancing communication with local business owners and stakeholders.
