Job Overview: The Senior Operations Officer will play a pivotal role in anchoring and coordinating value creation and upstream activities across the Asia Pacific region, specifically focusing on East Asia Pacific and South Asia. This position is designed to support over 140 private equity and venture capital funds and direct companies, contributing to the World Bank Group's priorities of scaling entrepreneurship, creating jobs, and advancing gender equality and sustainability. The officer will be responsible for implementing CPV's Value Creation Strategy through upstream and advisory interventions, ensuring effective delivery of initiatives that align with the investment lifecycle. This role requires collaboration with investment teams, product area leads, and sector specialists to identify and develop value creation opportunities tailored to local market conditions. The officer will also engage in knowledge dissemination, training, and capacity-building activities to enhance the understanding of value creation solutions within the organization and among clients.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Operations Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Developing, piloting, and scaling value creation products and tools that are tailored to local market conditions.
Identifying value creation opportunities for portfolio companies and high-probability pipeline funds, collaborating with investment officers and advisory teams.
Driving the integration of advisory and upstream priorities into regional investment strategies and workflows.
Serving as a liaison between CPV regional teams and the Cross-Cutting Advisory and Upstream team.
Contributing expertise to PE/VC country diagnostics and leading relevant engagements.
Leading operational and coordination activities for regional knowledge and learning, including training and capacity-building events.
Collecting and analyzing client and market data to design solutions aimed at creating markets and improving firm performance.
Preparing project documentation and engaging with various experts to integrate feedback.
Creating content for client deliverables, including analytical reports and training materials. 1
Managing complex project implementations and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. 1
Raising donor funds and preparing progress reports for stakeholders. 1
Structuring and leading client engagements, including meetings and workshops.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in fields such as Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Science, or Engineering. Additionally, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in entrepreneurship ecosystem development, project development, and advisory functions in emerging markets is required. Additional Notes: This position is a full-time role with a contract duration of three years.
