Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women involves contributing to the effective management of programs within the Afghanistan Country Office. The role requires providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The Programme Analyst will support the capacity building of women-led civil society organizations (WCSOs) and internal UN Women staff, ensuring successful program implementation. This includes field coordination for active grantee partners and oversight of systems and procedures. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including UN Women HQ staff, multi and bi-lateral donors, and civil society partners, to ensure the effective execution of programs aimed at strengthening women's civil society organizations in Afghanistan.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key functions, including: contributing to the development of program strategies for WCSOs, providing inputs for program design and formulation, supporting program implementation including grantmaking and monitoring, preparing relevant documentation such as project summaries and reports, overseeing technical assistance and capacity development for project partners, maintaining relationships with civil society partners, supporting monitoring and reporting by grantee partners, providing technical support for inter-agency coordination, and performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience in civil society and women's issues is desirable, along with experience in liaising with government agencies and donors.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, or international development. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. A project/programme management certification would be beneficial.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience in civil society and women's issues is desirable, as well as experience in coordinating with government agencies and donors. Candidates should also have experience leading and coaching staff in international settings and be proficient in using office software and web-based management systems.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in either Pashto or Dari. Knowledge of another official UN language such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish is considered desirable.
