Job Overview: The consultant will be responsible for designing, developing, facilitating, and reporting on a comprehensive learning program titled 'Leading with Balance: Attaining Work-Life Balance and the Power of Cross-Cultural Working in Times of Uncertainty.' This program aims to assist leaders in cultivating a balanced approach to work and personal life, thereby enhancing well-being and sustainable leadership. Additionally, the consultant will work on developing managers' cultural intelligence to effectively lead culturally diverse teams and leverage global perspectives. The position is home-based with virtual delivery, and the expected duration of the consultancy is 10 days.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant is expected to deliver two cohorts of virtual learning sessions targeting UNEP staff across all divisions, regional offices, and Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). Key responsibilities include conducting a pre-learning needs assessment and producing an analytical report to inform the design and development of learning resources and activities. The consultant will design and develop diverse learning resources such as presentations, learning guides, case studies, and practical exercises, ensuring they align with identified learning needs and objectives. Furthermore, the consultant will facilitate engaging learning sessions using appropriate adult learning methodologies to support effective knowledge transfer and skills development, primarily through virtual sessions. After the learning sessions, the consultant will administer post-learning assessments and prepare a comprehensive report summarizing participant feedback, learning outcomes achieved, key observations reflecting learners' impressions, and lessons learned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Learning and Development, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with an additional two years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in learning design, facilitation, coaching, and organizational development is required. Experience working with UN or international organizations in change management or HR development contexts is desirable. Strong facilitation skills and the ability to engage and motivate participants are essential, along with excellent communication and presentation skills. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is also desirable, as is experience in leading with balance and harnessing the power of cross-cultural working in times of uncertainty.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Learning and Development, Human Resources Management, or Organizational Development is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted if combined with additional relevant experience.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as learning design, facilitation, coaching, and organizational development. Experience in working with UN or international organizations, particularly in change management or HR development contexts, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
