Job Overview: The Financial Support Officer will join the Resources Management Office within the CMS Collaboration Experimental Physics Department. This role is crucial for providing seamless administrative and financial support to scientists from around the globe. The officer will be responsible for monitoring cost-of-living allowances, coordinating contributions to the CMS collaboration, and managing financial reports and records. The position requires a proactive approach to support large-scale scientific departments and ensure compliance with CERN's administrative procedures. The officer will also assist in organizing meetings and events, and provide guidance to personnel regarding their administrative needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Support Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities including: monitoring the payment of cost-of-living allowances and subsistence for personnel; coordinating contributions to the CMS collaboration; providing administrative support for financial matters related to orders, invoices, and payments; preparing and maintaining financial reports and records; managing contracts in compliance with CERN rules; organizing and coordinating meetings and events; assisting in budget requests and allocations; ensuring adherence to CERN regulations; and acting as a back-up to the supervisor during absences.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in administrative and financial services within an international environment is essential. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, as well as experience with office software packages, is also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is mandatory. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial principles and administrative processes.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in administrative and financial support roles, particularly in managing orders, invoices, and compliance with organizational procedures. Additional Notes: This position is a limited duration contract for 2 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite position. The role requires a commitment to a 40-hour work week, with hybrid work flexibility.
