Job Overview:
The Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Digital Tech and Human Rights Section (DTHR) within the Thematic and Special Procedures Division (TSP) of the OHCHR. This position involves a wide range of administrative functions, including human resources management, budget and finance oversight, general administration, and contract administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the unit's administrative activities, maintaining compliance with UN regulations, and providing guidance to staff on administrative procedures. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: initiating and processing human resource activities such as recruitment and performance appraisals; maintaining administrative records and data in electronic systems; advising staff on administrative procedures; monitoring budget expenditures and preparing financial reports; coordinating travel arrangements for staff and meeting participants; drafting correspondence; maintaining organizational files; and assisting with the administration of contracts with external service providers. Additionally, the role involves data collection and analysis, preparation of presentations, and ensuring compliance with administrative regulations and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A strong understanding of administrative functions, including human resources, finance, and database management, is essential. The ability to apply UN administrative rules and regulations in various work situations is required. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, efficiency, and a commitment to gender equality in the workplace. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure are also necessary for this role.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. While no specific job-related qualifications are mentioned, candidates with additional certifications or training in administrative services, finance, or human resources may be preferred.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, human resources, or a related area. Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, proficiency in English is required at UN Level II, which includes reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is temporarily available for six months, subject to the availability of funds. It is subject to local recruitment, meaning applicants must be authorized to work in Switzerland. Selected candidates from outside the duty station will be responsible for their relocation expenses. Staff members recruited locally are not eligible for allowances or benefits exclusive to international recruitment.
