Job Overview: The Senior Communications Officer for the Africa Regional Office (ARO) will be responsible for leading the development and execution of integrated communications campaigns that align with the foundation's priorities across Africa. This role involves comprehensive campaign planning and execution aimed at enhancing trust in the foundation's brand and garnering support for key issues. The position requires collaboration across various teams within a matrixed organization, necessitating strong leadership skills to influence and align stakeholders around a unified campaign vision. The officer will develop audience-focused campaign strategies, create content briefs, and manage audience engagement to ensure effective communication and outreach. Additionally, the role includes working closely with the Measurement and Insights team to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluate campaign effectiveness, ensuring that all campaigns are data-driven and strategically aligned with the foundation's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Campaign Strategy and Integrated Planning: Lead the creation of integrated campaign strategies that align with ARO priorities, focusing on audience insights and objectives. Develop actionable campaign plans based on research and monitoring, and define strategies for content and engagement across various media channels. Create campaign briefs and frameworks to guide execution and manage campaign budgets effectively. Contribute to the overall communications and campaign model of ARO, including planning processes and operational rhythms.
Campaign Execution: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of campaigns across priority markets, ensuring adherence to strategy and timelines. Coordinate efforts among cross-functional teams, including communications, country offices, and global teams, to ensure high-quality execution. Support significant events with integrated campaign planning and execution.
Audience Engagement: Identify and engage credible voices and messengers to enhance campaign reach. Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to develop locally relevant narratives and content that resonate with diverse audiences.
Measurement, Learning, and Optimization: Work with Measurement & Insights teams to establish KPIs and learning agendas for campaigns. Utilize data and audience feedback to refine strategies and improve campaign performance. Conduct post-campaign reviews to capture insights for future planning and decision-making.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. They should have 8-10 years of senior-level experience in strategizing and leading integrated communications or marketing campaigns in global or multi-country contexts, preferably in fast-paced environments. A strong ability to translate audience insights into actionable strategies is essential, along with proven experience in integrating paid, owned, and earned media in campaign execution. Familiarity with the digital, social, and media landscapes across Africa is crucial, as well as strong collaboration and influencing skills in matrixed environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, with the ability to synthesize complex topics for diverse audiences.
