Job Overview:
The Visiting Researcher Programme at CMRE is designed to support both the Research Division (RD) and the Engineering and Information Technology Division (EITD) in their ongoing projects. This programme provides an opportunity for the most talented students and university researchers from NATO nations to engage in a dynamic scientific environment. Participants will conduct research on topics that are of mutual interest to both the researchers and NATO, gaining access to CMRE's advanced equipment, facilities, and data. The programme is structured to allow researchers to collaborate closely with CMRE scientists and engineers, thereby gaining practical experience in their respective fields. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to CMRE's core competencies, which encompass a wide range of maritime research areas, including underwater acoustics, robotics, seismic acoustics, and more. The programme is open for applications on a rolling basis, and candidates are encouraged to tailor their applications to align with CMRE's current research efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Visiting Researcher, candidates will be responsible for conducting independent research aligned with CMRE's ongoing projects. This includes developing research proposals, utilizing CMRE's resources effectively, and collaborating with other researchers and staff. Researchers will be expected to contribute to the advancement of CMRE's core competencies, which include but are not limited to underwater acoustics, underwater robotics, ocean observation, and cybersecurity. They will also participate in team meetings, present their findings, and contribute to the publication of research results. Additionally, researchers may be involved in the development of new methodologies and technologies that enhance CMRE's research capabilities. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for the Visiting Researcher Programme, applicants must possess a University Degree (Bachelor's or Master's Degree) in a relevant field. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English, with a required Standard Language Profile (SLP) of 3333. This indicates a high level of fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, which is essential for effective communication within the research environment. Candidates should also have a strong interest in maritime research and technology, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Visiting Researcher Programme includes a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a field related to maritime research, engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline. Additional Notes:
The Visiting Researcher Programme is a full-time commitment, with assignments lasting a minimum of 90 consecutive days, which may be extended for an additional period not exceeding 90 days. Candidates should be aware that shorter assignments may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Research Fellows will receive a monthly salary of 3,079.45 Euros, which is subject to taxation. It is important for candidates to investigate visa requirements for working in Italy, as well as to secure appropriate insurance coverage for health and accidents during their stay. The recruitment process is limited to nationals of NATO member states, and candidates must be at least 21 years old.
