Job Overview: The Senior Programme Officer plays a crucial role in advancing UNAOC's mission by leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of awareness-raising and advocacy initiatives. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue, as well as countering racism and xenophobia. The Senior Programme Officer will conduct research, propose policy directives, and provide substantive support for meetings and conferences. The role involves managing outreach activities, designing training workshops, and establishing partnerships with various organizations. The Senior Programme Officer will also be responsible for analyzing data to inform decision-making and ensuring that UNAOC meets its programmatic goals and donor expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Programme Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: leading the development and evaluation of advocacy initiatives; ensuring gender mainstreaming in all actions; conducting research and program evaluations; proposing policy directives; guiding survey initiatives and data collection; providing written outputs for senior management; supporting consultative meetings and conferences; managing outreach activities and training workshops; leading field missions; developing program/project proposals and reports; establishing collaborations with international organizations; analyzing data for trends; and delivering outcomes that meet donor expectations. The role may also involve additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong professional skills, including the ability to identify strategic issues and opportunities, generate organizational direction, and assess international dynamics relevant to intercultural dialogue. The Senior Programme Officer should be adept at drafting policy guidance, managing multi-stakeholder processes, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences. A commitment to gender balance and the ability to analyze data for decision-making are also essential qualifications for this role.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in business administration, management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level degree (Bachelor’s) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is considered an advantage.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, or a related area is required. Candidates should have at least seven years of relevant experience within the UN Common System or comparable international organizations, as well as five years of experience in establishing relations with UN entities. Experience in resource mobilization and preparing donor reports is essential, while experience in managing large funding grants and developing intercultural dialogue initiatives is desirable.
Languages: English is required for this position, while French is desirable. Candidates should meet the minimum required level for each skill in these languages according to the UN Language Framework.
