Job Overview:
The Security Guard Supervisor position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of UN staff, property, and installations in Abyei. The incumbent will oversee the operations of security guards, ensuring that all security protocols are strictly followed. This role requires a proactive approach to managing security incidents and emergencies, as well as effective communication with team members and other stakeholders. The supervisor will be responsible for the daily management of security personnel, ensuring that they are well-trained, disciplined, and equipped to handle any security challenges that may arise. The position demands a high level of responsibility and accountability, as the supervisor will be the first point of command during security incidents, requiring quick decision-making and effective leadership skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Guard Supervisor will carry out a variety of duties, including but not limited to: assisting in the supervision of the security team, ensuring strict control of entry and exit points, verifying identification and authorization of personnel and vehicles, preventing unauthorized access to sensitive areas, overseeing the deployment and performance of security guards, conducting regular briefings and assigning duties, monitoring attendance and discipline of security staff, organizing foot and vehicle patrols, responding to suspicious activities, acting as the first point of command during security incidents, preparing incident reports, maintaining records of security activities, guiding staff and visitors during emergencies, ensuring smooth shift handovers, enforcing compound rules and regulations, conducting periodic checks of posts, safeguarding property and equipment, monitoring storage areas, and ensuring the availability of security equipment. The supervisor will also perform any other duties assigned by the supervisors of the Compound Security Unit.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be legally authorized to work for the United Nations in Abyei. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates should have at least one year of experience in UN Security Guard Force Management as a Team Leader. Additional experience with local, national, or private police, security, or fire brigade organizations is considered an advantage. The role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage a team effectively, and a thorough understanding of security protocols and procedures.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities and duties associated with security management and supervision.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in security management, specifically within the context of the United Nations Security Guard Force. Experience in a leadership role, particularly as a Team Leader, is essential. Additional experience in local, national, or private security organizations, or in operational or administrative roles, will be viewed favorably and may enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in the local language is essential for effective communication within the community and among staff. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable, as it may facilitate better interaction with local populations and enhance the supervisor's ability to manage security operations effectively.
