Job Overview: The position of Driver at the IFC Mexico Country Office involves providing a full range of daily official transportation requirements as well as general office support. The selected candidate will report directly to IFC’s Regional Director for Mexico, Central America, and the Dominican Republic. The primary responsibilities include using the official IFC vehicle to transport the Regional Director, other local and visiting IFC staff, mission members, delegates, and visitors. Additionally, the Driver will be responsible for delivering documents, goods, or supplies and coordinating with client offices and Government Ministries for the delivery and collection of official documents. This role is crucial in ensuring that the transportation needs of the office are met efficiently and safely, while also supporting various administrative functions when driving services are not required.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including: providing transportation for official business for the Regional Director and other local and visiting IFC staff as needed in Mexico City and throughout Mexico; ensuring that all passengers follow Road Safety Guidelines and maintaining the safety of both passengers and the vehicle; collecting and delivering official documents to Government officials, IFC clients, and Embassies as required; maintaining an updated log-book for vehicle usage to accurately record mileage; ensuring that periodic maintenance and repair needs of IFC vehicles are performed and that maintenance records are kept up to date; conducting daily security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security checks on the vehicle and ensuring the safe keeping of vehicle accessories; taking immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of an accident; following UN directives and being informed of daily security advisories provided by UNDSS; supporting Country Office administrative functions when driver services are not needed, including sorting and distributing incoming mail and faxes, photocopying, delivering urgent mail/messages, obtaining authorizations, shredding/disposing documents, handling courier services, filing documents, and other office-related functions; assisting with incoming shipments, including customs clearances; and providing any other relevant support to the Country Office as needed.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Driver position must possess a high school diploma and have at least five years of experience as a driver, preferably with international organizations. The candidate should have excellent knowledge of Mexico’s traffic rules and be extremely road safety conscious. Proficiency in both written and spoken Spanish is mandatory, while basic or intermediate proficiency in English is preferred. The candidate must be able to work under pressure, be flexible with working hours, and always be punctual. Good communication skills and polite manners are essential, as well as the ability to work as a committed team player in a multi-cultural environment. The candidate should demonstrate mature judgment, strong integrity, and sound ethical values, and be willing to work overtime when necessary. Maintaining confidentiality and discretion is also a critical requirement.
