Job Overview:
The Senior GenAI Engineering Practitioner role is designed for a seasoned professional who will work within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit of the World Bank Group. This position is pivotal in enhancing the software development life cycle (SDLC) and integrating agentic AI capabilities into engineering workflows. The practitioner will engage with agile teams to assess and improve current SDLC practices, identify gaps, and implement GenAI tools to enhance productivity and quality. The role also involves hands-on contributions to the design and development of an internal agentic AI platform, focusing on practical implementation rather than architectural redesign. The successful candidate will be expected to operate within established technology strategies while driving measurable improvements in software delivery performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior GenAI Engineering Practitioner include: A. SDLC Assessment and Improvement: Embedding with agile teams to evaluate current SDLC practices, identifying gaps in delivery flow and quality, designing small-scale experiments using GenAI tools, establishing baseline metrics, and producing actionable recommendations. B. GenAI Enablement within Engineering Workflows: Applying modern GenAI tools to real development scenarios, developing reusable patterns for prompt engineering and code generation, partnering with teams to integrate GenAI into daily practices, and documenting best practices for broader adoption. C. Agentic AI Framework Contribution: Contributing to the design and prototyping of an internal agentic AI framework, building workflows leveraging SDLC artifacts, supporting integration of agent capabilities, and collaborating with internal teams on experimentation and iteration. D. Measurement, Adoption, and Scaling: Defining and tracking KPIs related to SDLC efficiency and GenAI adoption, translating experimental outcomes into scalable practices, and providing structured updates on insights and results. E. Stakeholder Engagement: Working closely with engineering teams and leadership, communicating findings clearly, and providing grounded perspectives on trade-offs.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Candidates must have 5+ years as a software engineering practitioner at a senior level, hands-on experience with GenAI tools applied to engineering workflows within the last 24 months, and a demonstrated ability to improve SDLC practices. Experience in structured delivery environments, such as Agile at scale, is essential, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with agentic frameworks and familiarity with SAFe Agile or similar scaled frameworks.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess either a Master's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience. The educational background should align with the technical and analytical demands of the role, ensuring that the candidate has a solid foundation in software engineering principles and practices.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a software engineering practitioner, ideally at a Staff, Principal, or Engineering Manager level. This experience should include hands-on work with GenAI tools and a proven track record of improving SDLC practices through practical implementation. Familiarity with structured delivery environments, particularly Agile methodologies, is also required.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered beneficial but is not explicitly required for the role.

Additional Notes:
This position is a local recruitment opportunity with a term duration of 1 year. The role is classified at the EC2 grade level within the World Bank Group. The organization emphasizes equal opportunity and inclusivity in its hiring practices, ensuring that all candidates are evaluated based on their qualifications without discrimination. The position may involve collaboration with international teams, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the organization's mission of addressing global development challenges.
