Job Overview:
The Knowledge Transfer (KT) group at CERN is responsible for identifying and realizing opportunities for applying CERN technologies in various domains, including healthcare, environmental applications, quantum technologies, and aerospace. The Knowledge Transfer Professional will be part of the Business Development section, collaborating closely with CERN's Medical Applications Adviser and colleagues across the KT group. This role involves managing an internal seed funding program that connects research with societal applications, processing licensing requests primarily for software and electronics technologies, and optimizing procedures for transitioning to a new Intellectual Property and Customer Relationship Management system. The position requires a strong motivation to work at the intersection of science, technology, and industry, and the ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Knowledge Transfer Professional will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of CERN's Medical Applications Budget and the KT Fund, which includes tasks from the initial call and launch to evaluation, award, project progress monitoring, budget oversight, reporting, and record updates. The role also involves defining qualitative and quantitative KPIs for funding programs, monitoring their performance, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. The individual will act as the Scientific Secretary for the Medical Applications Project Forum, planning and organizing meetings, project reviews, and presentations. Additionally, the professional will manage a portfolio of licensing and KT partnerships, overseeing opportunity identification, contract preparation, and follow-up. Monitoring the performance of the licensing portfolio, including contractual obligations and financial flows, is also a key responsibility. The role requires analyzing and optimizing business processes to enhance operational efficiency and acting as the primary interface with internal and external partners, including industry, academia, and healthcare partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess professional experience or strong academic exposure to technology transfer, license management, research or innovation management, or funding program management. Experience in administrative and financial project management is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. A strong motivation to bridge the gap between science, technology, and industry is crucial. Knowledge and experience in electronics and/or software technologies are advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines autonomously, with a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary for collaborating with scientists, administrators, and industry partners. Proficiency in standard office and data management tools is required, and experience in program or project management, as well as familiarity with IP and CRM tools for innovation management or knowledge transfer, is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a professional background in Business, Administration, or STEM (or a related field). They must hold either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. It is important that candidates have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Experience:
Candidates should have a solid level of experience in relevant fields, particularly in technology transfer, license management, or funding program management. The experience should ideally be complemented by a strong academic background, allowing the individual to navigate the complexities of the role effectively. The ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage various projects simultaneously is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate a commitment to learning French. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse partners and stakeholders.
